BTTC refers to the BitTorrent Chain, a blockchain protocol developed by the BitTorrent team under the TRON ecosystem. Launched in December 2021, it’s designed as a cross-chain interoperability protocol that uses a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. BTTC aims to connect various blockchains—like TRON, Ethereum, and Binance Smart Chain—enabling seamless asset transfers and scaling smart contracts via sidechains. Its native token, BTT (BitTorrent Token), was redenominated at a 1:1,000 ratio during the mainnet launch, increasing its total supply to 990 trillion. BTT powers the ecosystem, incentivizing file sharing (e.g., via BitTorrent Speed), decentralized storage (e.g., BitTorrent File System or BTFS), and staking rewards on the BTTC network. Essentially, BTTC extends the original BitTorrent peer-to-peer file-sharing vision into a decentralized, blockchain-driven framework.
